Why is a childbirth education class of any kind necessary?

Because when you know better, you BIRTH better. Especially if you are planning the birth in hospital setting. Understanding how to navigate that environment can make the difference between a birth that feels traumatic and birth the feels ecstatic.

So what makes a Bradley® class different? What makes it worth your time and your money when there are shorter, cheaper options available?

You believe in unmedicated, undisturbed birth if at all possible and you believe that the tools available within the medical setting are there to help those who need it, if or when that need is indicated. Not before. You believe that human bodies were made to birth their babies and you believe that birth is natural part of the reproductive cycle, not something that needs to be managed or controlled. You believe there is power in your preparation and you recognize that even the best laid plans can sometimes do not go as imagined. You want to know how to give yourself the best opportunity to bring your baby into the world on your terms and what you can do if the body or the baby have other plans. You can want to know all the comfort measures, affirmations and relaxation techniques and what you can do if you have to or want to change those plans.
